Previous Experience

 

1990 - 1994 Assistant Professor of Law: Department of paralegal Studies, the Elms College, Chicopee, MA. Tenured track position, primarily responsible for teaching civil procedure, interviewing, negotiation, mediation and health law.

1989 - Present  Senior Instructor: Western New England College, Springfield, MA. Assigned to teach upper level business law courses.

1981 - 1988 Special Attorney: Office of the Attorney General for the State of Maryland, Baltimore, MD. Assigned to Department of Health and Mental Hygiene. Established new position of general counsel for state owned and operated hospitals and assigned as general counsel for Maryland's two largest state psychiatric hospitals. Responsible for initiating and creating policy on all phases of hospital management; including assessment of negligence and medical malpractice claims, professional staff responsibilities, patient rights, personnel and administrative matters, licensing/certification matters, contracts and EEO claims.

1980 - 1981 Associate Attorney: Law Offices of Talkin & Abramson, Columbia, Maryland. General practitioner and trial attorney in general practice law firm. Handled cases in areas of tort, contract domestic, criminal, commercial, special education and developmental disabilities. appellate counsel on consumer protection case that led to creation of lemon law for cars.

1976 - 1978 Senior Research Associate: American Institutes for Research, Washington, D.C. Evaluated criminal justice national standards and goals; developed crime reduction and prevention program in conjunction with urban community program.

1974 - 1976 Criminal Justice Program Analyst: New York State Division of Criminal Justice Services, N.Y., N.Y. Assigned to court planning and juvenile justice programs. Administered LEAA grants programs of approximately $11 million.
